Day Camp Sponsor

Today, the children of Oklahoma City are surrounded by a multitude of harmful and negative influences. At an early age, many are exposed to drug usage, inappropriate sexual activity, and gangs. The media that is a daily part of these children’s lives promotes profanity, disrespect to authority, a sense of purposelessness, disinterest in God, promiscuity, violence, and much more. There is a lack of Biblical truth infused into their lives and positive, Christian role models and mentors are scarce. Many of these children don’t know where to turn for answers and they feel they have no hope.

Novo Ministries is combatting these negative influences in Oklahoma City’s children by going into urban communities and reaching children with the truth of God’s Word. Novo Ministries is introducing children to Jesus Christ and the hope that only salvation and a personal relationship with Him can bring. During the 2009-2010 school year, over 1500 children at 17 program sites heard the life-changing truth of God’s Word!

This past summer, Novo Ministries held week-long summer day camps for the children of inner-city communities. These day camps took place in apartments, public housing, schools, and community centers within walking distance of these children’s homes. During the day camps, boys and girls spent several hours each day in a safe and fun-filled environment. Boys and girls learned essential Biblical truths and were provided with the opportunity to strengthen relationships that were formed during school year Bible Club. Over 800 children had the opportunity to continue to grow spiritually and were challenged to keep discovering and embracing God’s purpose for their lives.

We are recruiting current Bible Club teachers and new volunteers to work in these day camps again for the summer of 2011 and reach these precious children. Hundreds of children loved experiencing a camp that was held in their neighborhood, and parents and guardians are enthusiastic about enrolling their children again in 2011. Plans are already underway for making the summer of 2011 a life-changing and an impacting one for the inner-city children of Oklahoma City.

Bringing the camp experience to hundreds and hundreds of children in their very own communities is only possible through the generous gifts of people like you.
